This is so cool! I love this idea! Dies this mean that no one can say the phrase without paying you, or just that they can’t use it as a business name? Was it a lengthy or costly process? Is it forever? Is a logo required? It really is quite perfect for you in 1000+ ways!

Great questions… and no, I didn’t just buy the rights to the English language 😄

A trademark doesn’t stop people from saying the phrase. It just protects how it’s used commercially… things like business names, branding, products, that sort of thing.

The process took a while (think months, not days), and there are some costs involved, but it’s not outrageous. No logo required either… you can trademark just the words.

And it’s not exactly “forever,” but as long as you keep using it and renew it when needed, it can last indefinitely.

Mostly, for me, it was just about planting a flag around an idea I’ve been living with for a long time.

I make my living from the digital world and still firmly believe that the human touch is going to be more important than ever moving foward. Love that you've taken this step!

What a great Name to use. It certainly describes you work and the feeling the feeling one gets when they look at your artistry. Congratulations!

Thank you. I've been using this tagline since the mid-80s actually. More appropriate than ever now.

My hope is that this substack will become a home for like minded misfits. Not at all sure how that'll play out yet though.

Congratulations! I had registered copyrights twice for two different items. It does take a long time!
